Colin McCahill

Summer 2021 performer

Colin McCahill is a young, local, up and coming Detroit saxophonist. He grew up loving music and
admiring the saxophone greats such as Charlie Parker, Sonny Stitt, and Michael Brecker. After
graduating from Oberlin Conservatory studying under Gary Bartz, he moved to Detroit to establish
himself as a musician.

As gigs became obsolete during the pandemic, Colin honed his craft and quickly set out to play at every jam session he could around town, becoming a regularly featured guest at Burt’s Marketplace and Tireman Conference & Banquet Center.

He quickly became a sideman for jazz, rock, and soul groups and starting gigging again in the summer of 2021 at weddings, parties, and tribute concerts. With a bright sound and original improvisational ideas, he is a “must-see” at Corktown Sounds.
